You may be dealing with a condition called costochondritis. This is essentially inflammation between the ribs. It is often tender to the touch and can cause chest wall/rib tenderness. The treatment is anti-inflammatory medications like advil or ibuprofen, and steroids in more severe cases. On the other hand you may be dealing with another issue (heart issues, broken rib etc.);so I advise you to see your doctor for a complete work up and evaluation.
