No bulge, No hernia.: The best test for a hernia is a physical examination by an experienced hernia surgeon. Cts or ultrasounds can identify hernias but neither are 100%. The most common symptom associated w/a hernia is a bulge that protrudes w/exertion. Most people note only mild discomfort unless intestine is incarcerated w/in the hernia (in which case one may have "obstructive" symptoms). ...Read more

Sounds like: You probably have an inguinal (groin) hernia. The discomfort you describe can be due to a hernia. Hernias can slowly grow over time. Follow up with your doctor & follow their recommendations. Surgical repair of the hernia will likely become necessary at some point in time. ...Read more

Possible: Let your doctor examine you , most of umbilical hernias do not need repair ( surgery ) how ever most likely you have incarceration , mental fat tissue got stuck inside , then you may need surgery , then your family doctor will refer you to a surgeon. ...Read more

No surgery: 90-95 % of people with GERD get better with medication. surgery reserved to a very small section of people . yes you can have a hiatal hernia surgery without the fundoplication, but that will not stop the efflux in any way. try to get the best medical treatment before start thinking about surgery. ...Read more

Cervical radiculopathy: Sounds like it could be related to a cervical radiculoapathy. Radiculopathy symptoms can wax and wane over the years causing a variety symptoms including numbness, pain, and weakness. Consider MRI of cervical spine and electrodiagnostic studies of the upper extremities. While a cervical radiculopathy can caused muscle spasms, you typically don't see 'spasticity'. Radiculopathy would be a lower motor neuron condition as opposed to upper motor neuron. Does the patient have increased reflexes and positive Hoffman's test? If so, consider MRI of the brain to rule out a lesion that may be causing these symptoms. ...Read more

Probably the best option for you would be a laparoscopic repair of both hernias, presuming you are referring to groin hernias. This should be done by someone with expertise in this technique, but the best approach can only be determined after a proper interview and examination. ...Read more

Two issues: you have a hernia for 15 years. You have a strong fear of surgery. For the fear you should talk to your doctor and get help. This could really hinder your life. For the hernia if it is not too big the surgery is safe and can be done with a camera. You may have a new joy in life after surgery. Hope this helps. ...Read more

Not dangerous: I'm not quite sure how to put together this constellation if symptoms other than normal scarring after an operation. I ca say that it does not sound like there is anything dangerous going on. If you're concerned, see your hernia surgeon for an exam. Hope this helps! ...Read more
