Asked MD?: This is an odd symptom. Does "numb" mean less feeling or too much feeling, i.e. Paresthesias (pins and needles)? Are there skin changes over the area (as in old shingles)? The nerves supplying the left lower quadrant come from the lower thoracic spinal roots, i.e. From the spinal roots at the lower end of the rib-cage. How long is "a long time"? Very strange symptom: UAdler, you are of an age where seemingly minor abdominal complaints could be quit serious. I would advise you to seek a medical examination, ESPECIALLY if you have high blood pressure, diabetes, arthritis, or any other medical conditions or have any changes at all in your appetite or bowel habits.
