Options: For young women with a newly found cyst (or cysts) and bad pain - as long as they aren't too large (usually less than 7cm) we typically recommend allowing 6 weeks for the cysts to go away on their own - and then doing another sono to check and see if they are gone. sometimes a cyst can twist, or "torse" and that requires emergency surgery. If pain is severe, and meds don't help, surgery is option. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

USS July diagnosed 3.8 CM simple L renal cyst. Renal CT scan yesterday showed 3cm exophytic mass arising from L upper pole looks like a cyst ?? CA
Tissue is the issue: Hi. Diagnosis of what the renal mass is requires tissue for the pathologist to examine. Imaging studies may be suggestive or not, but to be certain, a pathologist must study a CT- or U/S-guided core biopsy of the mass. Sometimes surgical biopsy is necessary to determine whether benign or malignant. We don't have the means to make that determination. The mass may not be suspicious enough to biopsy ...Read more

Cyst in kidney: Right now the 1 cm cyst looks pretty small and benign. However it could turn into something solid or can get larger. 6 months is a good time to repeat it.
