Left shoulder and arm pain with numbness in hand and fingers can't raise arm above shoulder?

Intrinsic shoulder : Joint problem, such as rotator cuff tear or frozen shoulder joint may be present. Left shoulder and arm pain with numbness in hand and fingers and can't raise arm above shoulder?

Left shoulder and arm pain with numbness in hand and fingers and can't raise arm above shoulder?

Nerve root injury: One of the more common causes of your symptoms is a cervical nerve root injury called cervical radiculopathy. In a man of your age the cause is more likely to be osteoarthritis affecting the foramen (hole where the nerve root exits). The reports of numbness argues against an intrinsic shoulder problem and without antecedent trauma a brachial plexus lesion is unlikely. Please go see your doc. ...Read more

What could cause bouts of hand and arm numbness and loss of muscle control?

Impingements: Intermittent nerve compression can cause. Pinching occurs at costoclavicular dimension, true thoracic outlet. Raising arm unconsciously during sleep causes this space to close by a few millimeters, pinching main nerve ; artery to arm. Ulnar parasthesias (crawly tingling feelings) occur in pinky side of hand. This dynamic is called thoracic outlet syndrome (tos). See my discussion at quora.Com. ...Read more

Radiculopathy: It sounds like a disc has herniated in your neck or some other issues closing off the opening your nerve roots run through to exit the cervical spine. Low back pain with right thigh numbness and right arm/hand/wrist pain/numbness. Sneezing causes extreme aching pain in both arms. Thoughts on causes?

Spine specialist W/U: It coulb be from disc disease in your neck or high in the back creating some nerve root irritation from the sudden negative intrathoracic pressure created by the sneeze. When not sneezing the disc may look normal, which makes it very difficult to diagnose. The same phenomenon can result from a build up of bone (osteophytes) near the central canal or the foramen where the nerves travel. ...Read more
