Hard to say: The nerves at L5 and S1 travel down the back and not the front of the thigh, so it may not be related to the surgeon. Problems in the hip joint can cause anterior thigh pain, as can inflamed lymph nodes among other possible causes. Could be: new onset low back pain w/pain in the thigh and difficulty straightening lower spine could be a sign of a nerve root issue and should be checked out w/o delay.
