SINUS TACHYCARDIA RIGHT AXIS DEVIATION BORDERLINE NORMAL/ABNORMAL?

SINUS TACHYCARDIA RIGHT AXIS DEVIATION BORDERLINE NORMAL/ABNORMAL?

Further work up: You need further work up including at least a chest X ray and an echocardiogram (heart ultrasound). Your heart rate should not be so fast especially at rest, and a right axis is not the usual form. Important to exclude potentially dangerous conditions like a pulmonary embolus or other cardiac conditions. All the best to you! ...Read more

If your ECG says right axis deviation is this a hypertrophy of the right ventricle or dilatation? Or is both possible?

If your ECG says right axis deviation is this a hypertrophy of the right ventricle or dilatation? Or is both possible?

Neither or both: RAD occurs due to RV pressure or volume overload which can be acute or chronic. Long term pressure overload will eventually lead to RVH. Long term volume overload will eventually lead to dilation. But you can have RAD acutely with neither. An example of that is acute pulmonary embolism. ...Read more

I have a asd&asa with abnormal ekg (right axis deviation) >100 they say this is the asd in work overload what would cause the overload? Is it bigger?

I have a asd&asa with abnormal ekg (right axis deviation) >100 they say this is the asd in work overload what would cause the overload? Is it bigger?

Right axis deviation: Electrocardiographic right axis deviation which is increasing over time associated with an ASD can indicate right ventricular dilation. If the ECG is a one point in time measurement, then its reliabiltiy as a predictor of right heart enlargement is less. Discuss with your doctor. Measuring shunt with echo is an easy way to evaluate the ASD. Sometimes a TEE is needed. ...Read more

What does abnormal right axis deviation mean? Qrs axis >100 what are the causes of this? I have asd and Asa. Does it mean enlarged heart or asd worse?

See my earlier post: RAD means that the electrical impulses arising from the right ventricle are abnormally strong and suggest that your ASD is volume overloading and overworking your RV. AS I said earlier, you need the left to right shunt quantified by echo and corrected if >1.5:1. ...Read more

See below: Your atrial septal defect and atrial septal aneurysm are sufficient to account for a RAD. You need to ask the echo reader to quantitate the amount of left to right shunting that is present. If significant. The ASD should be closed. The other parameters of your EKG are normal. ...Read more

In the ER for abeominal pain, and chest pain EKG said bradycardia with iirregular hr 43. Borderline right axis deviation. How bad is this? I am still waiting at the er. I have congenital heart disease 2

Ekg interpretation: Ok, you are in the er, you have a congenital heart disease. You are not having a heart attack, so at this point listen to the er doc and look into other reasons for your abdominal pain. As far as the ekg, the rad prob is a reflection of the chd but you probably need a cardiologist to review it and determine if it means anything. ...Read more

What does it mean when an ECG says borderline and extreme right superior axis deviation. Slight high lateral repolarization disturbance consider Ische?

EKG: Consider ischemia which is not enough blood getting to heart because of blocked arteries or an aortic stenosis or old heart attack. Would be good to know how old you are and what other problems you have to give better answer. Happy to do 2nd opinion now. ...Read more

In SIMPLEST terms... can you explain ECG axis... what axis (left/right) deviation means...and how to spot it on ECG. Thanks?

Electrical axis: Roughly corresponds to size & shape of heart. No simple answer. Can indicate left or right ventricular muscle enlargement, left or right atrial enlargement, dextrocardia, loss of activity by a portion of heart muscle. After you get your MD you can spend some time learning to interpret cardiograms. It is hard. Most Drs are not good at it. ...Read more

How dangerous is left axis deviation?

Generally not: A left axis may be normal for you, or may indicate some thickening of your left ventricle. Check with your doc. An echocardiogram can usually rule out anything significant. ...Read more

Is left axis deviation dangerous? What are possible treatments and heath tips.

Is left axis deviation dangerous? What are possible treatments and heath tips.

Left axis deviation: Left axis means on your ekg them sum of your electrical vectors from your heart was 0 to negative 90 degrees on the EKG. This can be a normal variant from respiration. Pregnant women often have left shift and people with ascites. Essentially processes that push diaphragm up cause the left axis. Left axis can be associated with heart conditions such as: LVH, increased k and others. ...Read more

I had a ekg and it said it was abnormal because of a left axis deviation. What is that?

It's on it's side: Cannot say in your particular case, but generally, it means the the heart, electrically, is moved to the left. This can be from a big belly, a big heart (bad), electrical wiring that is running badly in the heart or parts of the heart have died off in the other areas (prev heart attack). Even the big belly increases surgical risk. ...Read more

I just had a ecg and it said left axis deviation and a t wave abnormality. What does this mean?

Understanding based: On both heart anatomy & how the electrical stimulation spreads from cell-to-cell with the atria, then within the ventricles. Both terms relate to both heart anatomy & electrical activity within the ventricles, both dominant depolarization biased more to left side (left axis deviation) & altered repolarization (T waves); many possible reasons. I have just done a ecg and it came back with a left axis deviation and t wave abnormality. What does that mean?

Left axis deviation: What that means is the doctor who was "caring" for you has not been very pleasant or helpful.
Two things to do:
1: Please have your doctor explain all of the information to you. There is absolutely no reason why that did not happen already.
2: You can go online and look for several patient centered articles that will be helpful. ...Read more

What is left axis deviation and slow heart rate indicate?

What is left axis deviation and slow heart rate indicate?

Shift in elec signal: Left axis deviation means the average direction of the electricity in your heart is shifted a little to the left. This can be normal but often indicates an enlargement of the left side of your heart. Again often nothing to worry about. A slow heart rate can be from many things ranging from normal to damaged electrical circuits in the heart. Your doctor will be in best position to advise you. ...Read more

There is left axis deviation in my heart, is it dangerous? My age, height and weight are 30 years, 5'8 and 89 kg respectively. I daily smoke & drink

Lifestyle worries me: Left axis deviation may or may not be dangerous (it rarely is) but I am more worried about your lifestyle. Also, You should tell us your age as that can be a factor in some of your EKG changes. Your smoking, drinking and over weight will land you into serious health problems.....so start reducing all 3 and increase your physical activity.....take long walks daily and lose weight. It will take time!! ...Read more

What does left axis deviation, ST depression, and abnormal Twave, Heart rate 134 mean? PR interval 145, P Duration107, T Duration 230, QRS duratio...

Many possibilities: Phillip,
Many of the findings you mention can be normal variants but may also represent more concerning issues such as blocked arteries. I would note that you don't want to rely on a computer interpretation of the ECG and should make sure a cardiologist has reviewed it.
Other things to remember is that you want to review the ECG in the context of symptoms, risk factors etc. ...Read more

Electrocardiogram: The electrocardiogram (ECG, or EKG in German) is a recording of the electrical activity of the heart. Sometimes a computer gives a prelim interpretation, then a doctor gives a final reading. The findings you listed are details but not interpretation. Depending on clinical context (age, symptoms, history) and comparison with prior ECGs, ST depression might mean ischemia and need further testing. ...Read more

I had a pre-surgical ecg. The result is like : normal sinus rhythm left axis deviation abnormal ecg what does it mean?

Axis: The preponderance of electrical activity of your heart is directed to the left of your body. This may mean your left ventricle is thickened (hypertrophy), or may be caused by a minor conduction delay (left anterior hemiblock). Neither of these are very serious, and will probably not delay your surgery. Ask your doc about your ekg findings. ...Read more
