Not dangerous but: May point 2 a separated shoulder of low grade. Was this compared 2 the opposite side? They may both b the same. Injury? A lot missing here as far as info is concerned. I would decrease the weight on you lateral fly and slow down when doing shoulder shrugs. Get examined!: At age 55 your most common cause for this pain would still be 'impingement' ( or bursitis). Labral tears causing this pain are less likely unless associated with the biceps 'anchor'( SLAP) lesions -- but less likely in isolation in your age group.Osteoarthritis can cause pain in this distribution .
