Is it ok that where my ribs connect to my sternum they pop sometimes? Like popping knuckles. It hurts most of the time until they pop.

Yes, it's probably OK: There are joint between your ribs and your sternum that can pop as they move sometimes, and it is not an indication of harm. It is also possible to get costochondritis, or inflammation of those joints, which usually is painful to touch and with movement. If you are having a lot of pain, try low doses of Ibuprofen over the counter for a few days. As with anything, if it doesn't go away see a dr. ...Read more

Hi my sternum cracks when I stretch I know of the ribs realigning and all but it is starting to hurt extremely bad. What's wrong?

Muscle pain/activity: This seems to be nonspecific in nature. I don't know what activities you do but you might have pulled a muscle during them and stretching so it might be trying to get back to its normal position. You are also young and could still be growing, and that might be part of this. If it persists after a week or gets worse, see your doctor for an exam. ...Read more

Pectus: Sometimes the sternum is recessed to varying degrees called pectus excavatum. This is a congenital issue and does not suddenly appear but is present from birth.
