Possibilities!: A swelling under the left rib cage has many differential diagnoses; it could be coming from the skin( lipoma...), from the rib either the cartilage or the bone, it could be coming from the stomach or an enlarged spleen. It depends: Sounds like costochondritis. Costochondritis is inflammation at he junction between the ribs and sternum. There can be localized chest wall pain and tenderness on the front of the rib cage. Costochondritis is a relatively harmless condition and usually goes away without treatment. The cause is usually unknown. Costochondritis affects females more often than males (70% versus 30%). ...Read more

Trauma? Shingles: Dear YKarim, have you hit the area? if not, when reading this, I got concerned about Shingles (Herpes zoster) in which case, early antivirals will help.
