Wife going thru menopause, very depressed, effecting our marriage, tried everything from drs to specialists, naturopaths & meditation, any suggestions?
Cognitive therapy: Cognitive-behavioral therapy and/or couples therapy may be a helpful intervention here. While menopause may have seemed like where it started, this could be a correlated or coincidental event. Keeping your own head above water by maintaining your own mental and physical health is another way you can help, or at least prevent things from getting worse. Hang in there and seek some additional help. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Any doctors out there who have tried sleep/activity/etc. Tracking devices and services (e.G., jawbone's up, fitbit, nike+ fuelband)? Thoughts?
I use fitbit: I've been using fitbit daily for over 2 years. During the day it shows my activity patterns, and allows me to use that feedback to modify the behavior. For example if I have not met my step goal by dinner time a postrprandial walk becomes more attractive. At night, the fitbit can provide useful information regarding quality of sleep. The web software allows for tracking of calorie intake andweight. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Do FPS fast paced shooters video games increase your eye visiona. I heard there had been scientific proof that's this is true?
Not your vision: Video games may improve eye hand coordination and dexterity. The actual visual acuity is based on the curvature and length of the eye, and the general health of the eye. Using the eyes visually for any task has essentially no effect on these variables. On the other hand, intensive near visual work and computer use can lead to eyestrain and dry eye symptoms. ...Read more
I believe in the traditional approaches to healthy eating from the pioneers adelle davis and frances moore lappe. Who are leaders now?
Alice Waters/Farmers: Ms. Lappe's daughter is carrying on the small planet movement. Doctors ornish and weil are well-known proponents of healthy eating. There are many outside north america. With the rising cost of food and possible problems with our food supply, there is a need for others. My approach is a la michael pollan, using local fresh foods as much as possible. I cook low-fat according to what is in season. ...Read more

I am sorry...: At 7 3/7 weeks, if there is no heartbeat, then this is a miscarriage. You mentioned that a scan was done at 8 2/7 weeks, but you did not mention the fetal heart rate. If it was still absent, then you have what we refer to as a "missed abortion". You need a thorough workup of recurrent miscarriages. ...Read more

Let's see: Let's see what your holter shows - surely the ny's celebration was contributory at the time but not now. It may have made you more aware of ordinary irregularity though. Normal folks have palpitations sometimes. A full workup should include a blood sample for thyroid fct, potassium, magnesium, and an echo in addition to the holter. Be aware: Use critical thinking thinking about health. He wrote a book called The Detox MIRACLE sourcebook. It would be miraculous if a detox could cure type I diabetes. A plant based diet is very nutritious but I would need to see the evidence based review of how herbs and raw food cured medical conditions like Diabetes, Crohns cancer. ...Read more

Kick counts: As your pregnancy progresses your baby will behave more and more like a newborn and this includes sleeping.
