Asthma at 73% peak flow unprodctv cough except formed ovoid balls lt yellow. Drinking tons! 97.5 singulair (montelukast) advair, proair -2 osteopenia, steroids bad?

Steroids: People with chronic asthma or COPD if they need steroid should not be withheld as it is lifesaving. We do have to protect the bones as we want to avoid most of all spinal fractures. We can give certain things like calcitonin or bisphosphonates if needed. Your doctor and you can make that decision when you discuss your problem. ...Read more

Had allergic childhood asthma but now symptom free for over 10 yrs. Afraid to mention on pre employment medical declaration for regular finance job?

Read ??? carefully: It makes a difference if they ask "have you ever...?" vs "have you had in the last 5 or 10 years?" answer truthfully. And if I am not mistaken they can only do a physical post job offer, and not discriminate based on physical exam findings. Anyway asthma, should not have much bearing on an office job. ...Read more

I'm 22, female, type 1 diabetic 20 years & graves disease. Had baby 12/2 & sick for month. Angina, irregular heartrate, syncope, short of breath. Help?

PCP visit: I would suggest having your thyroid function tests obtained, and an evaluation for autoimmune disease. The other test that you should have while you are at the PCP, is an EKG. ...Read more

12 years post op rny, iron 20 & vitamin d at 10. Seeing a new dr that hasn't worked with deficient gastric bypass, is 325ferrous 3x and 2000d 1x okay?

Nutrition!: A gastric bypass is a very complex nutrition situation. If your physician has not dealt with it much i would suggest asking for a referral to a nutritionist or a bariatric center. That being said, the dosage of iron is fda approved treatment for iron deficiency, and the vitamin d is a reasonable amount. You have many nutrient levels that should be monitored and carefully watched! ...Read more

Not hypothyroid: Your TSH was within normal range(0.4-0.6 ) 4 months ago indicating you were not hypothyroid then and were on the proper dose of Synthroid (thyroxine). Your current Free T4 is within normal limits. However your TSH is slightly low which suggests that your current dose of Synthroid (thyroxine) is slightly too high and can be reduced. YOU ARE NOT HYPOTHYROID and your symptoms are not due to this. ...Read more

Is it safe to take Claritin-D, Flonase & motrin for sinusitis symptoms? Congestion in 1 nostril w/ head/ear/jaw/behind eye ache for 2 weeks.

Ocular Hypertension?: If you have eye pain, the Flonase (fluticasone propionate), an intranasal steroid, might be causing a steroid responsive intraocular pressure elevation and risk for glaucomatous optic atrophy plus the risk for cataract. Have your eye pressure checked with and without Flonase use, and get a baseline visual field study if you must use intranasal steroids on a chronic basis. ...Read more

Seek medical help: You will benefit from counseling and support from family and friends. You will find it useful if you can exercise daily, preferably an early morning walk. This will give you a positive attitude, make you physically stronger and feel good about yourself. You should get out of the house and volunteer, until you find employment. I'm 10w pregnant & I've allergy that keeps getting worse sneezing itching ears & throat congestion & the PA told me i can take allegra (fexofenadine) ! Is it safe?

No Allegra (fexofenadine): Claritin (loratadine) and Zyrtec (cetirizine) are pregnancy category B medications which means that animal reproduction studies have failed to demonstrate a risk to the fetus. I frequently use these medications with my pregnant patients. Allegra (fexofenadine) is category C so I would avoid this medication and stick with the ones listed above. If concerned, talk to OB/GYN about specific medications. ...Read more
