Not advisable to do : Breastfeeding causes something called Lactational Amenorrhoea. It is not advisable to take any medications for fertility at this point. It is safer to wean off a baby after breastfeeding for at least 12 months, to help the menses to resume, although they may be anovulatory ( no ova )for the first few months. Hard to say: One of the primary reasons you menstruate is the failure of a released egg to become fertilized and save the prepared chamber. Yet you don't have to ovulate to menstruate. Breastfeeding can interfere with ovulation, but is not a dependable form of birth control, since ovulation is still possible. Accept that you may be fertile unless you use protection. ...Read more

No: No. Not breast feeding. But after giving birth it can take a while for your HCG level (the pregnancy hormone measured in pregnancy tests) to return to 0. Taking a pregnancy test less than 8 weeks after giving birth is frequently positive. Check with your doctor if you are concerned. 2 blood tests two weeks apart can determine if HCG level is going up (pregnant) or down (non pregnant). ...Read more
