How long will it take to get the results back from an endometrial biopsy?

How long will it take to get the results back from an endometrial biopsy?

Depends on lab: Most pathology laboratories have a 2-3 day turn around time. However, timing factors and special studies can increase the time to results. To improve your chances of a quick turn-around time, schedule your biopsy early in the day and early in the week. Consider requesting that your biopsy be reviewed by a specialist in gynecologic pathology, although this can take longer to arrange. ...Read more

Still waiting for pathology results from polypectomy and endometrial biopsy. I had the op on the 11th of march. Is this normal? I called twice myself

Should have answer. : You should have gotten a result by this time. Sometimes the pathologists need to work on it longer if they see something, but they would be in touch with your other doctor(s), at least the doctor who robed your polyp. So it would be wise to speak to that doctor to try to get an answer as to what's going on. Best of luck. ...Read more

If the hysterosonogram's results were fine, do I need endometrial biopsy also?

Depends: The workup of irregular bleeding has been changing and there is a tendency to move away from an endometrial biopsy but this is not the standard of care yet. Each test you have done that says things are normal is good news and shifts the odd in your favor that things are fine. An endo biopsy will give more credence that things are fine. Discuss with your doctor how far to work things up. ...Read more

Endometrial biopsy friday called quest they said status reads pending does this mean something bad and is no result this long a bad sign too?

Be patient.: Pending just means that there is no final answer. When the result has been read, your doctor will be informed. I recommend communicating with your doctor's office in regards to the result instead of calling the lab. If there seems to be a delay in getting the result, the doctor's office can call the lab to see what is causing the delay. ...Read more

Endometrial biopsy 3/3/15 results - tubal metaplasia and scant sample, so d&c hysteropscopy 04/14/15 results show no tubal metaplasia can it reverse?

Insignificant find: Tubal metaplasia is an insignificant finding in endometrial tissue. Often it is not even mentioned because it is common. It has no association with hyperplasia or cancer at all. It is an incidental finding that is usually present only focally. Your MD undoubtedly repeated the biopsy because the initial biopsy was scant and s/he wanted a better sample, NOT to see if there is more metaplasia. ...Read more
