Doctor insights on:
Not mildew: If this is a persistent problem, you may want to get it checked out especially for fat malabsorption (Celiac disease etc) when the stool floats. If this happens only for a few days, don't be worried over it. It is unlikely to be mildew even though yeast is a usually resident in the intestines. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Fadedpink color, not bright red, on toilet paper after wiping. Not on fecal matter or in toilet, but on warm water moistened paper. No lumps. Sift stool?
Prob diet related: Flecks of white stuff are probably diet related. Sometimes some meds have casings that pass undigested. Parasites can be white-but generally if you can see them, they will be moving (worms). Entirely white stools can be seen after taking barium for a test, some meds, or with blockage to the flow of bile. That last one needs medical evaluation-potentially serious stuff there. ...Read more

Is the black residue on new stainless steel pots dangerous for baby? i washed and boiled water in it and when i wipe with towel, residue still there
No: While stainless steel is named stainless it's more stain resistant. Chemicals in water and/or food can stain the insides of stainless steel pots. And prolonged high heat can stain the outside of the pots. I wouldn't worry and you can try to remove the stains with some vinegar or lemon juice. Best of luck. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Cleaned flat stove top off with lysol wipe after spilling juice of raw meat. Cooked on it and forgot to wash lysol off. Could smell. Will fumes hurt?
No: at that small amount of exposure I would not be concerned especially if cooking in kitchen and not in any enclosed space. If any eye, nose, throat, chest irritation that does not resolve in 1-2 hours or gets worse, see your doctor. Hope this was helpful. Best of luck. Dr. R ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Unusual travel/diet?: So many possible causes of loose stool: infection, stress, conditions of the intestine, change in diet, or underlying disease. Best answer is from analysis of the stool and good evaluation of where you've been what you've eaten and who you have been near. Mucous of itself is more an indication of empty colon and not as worrisome as blood. Go see your doctor and get evaluated. ...Read more

I've had lots of gas with very oily stool with black spots in liquid alongside it; looks akin to vinegar in olive oil. Stool itself is brown/just oily?
Yes: If you temporarily are on a low fiber diet, the easiest way to follow that diet is no fruits, no vegetables, no whole grains! meat, fish, chicken and dairy are fine. You may have white rice and white bread. Only exceptions to fruit/veggies is mashed potatoes and non chunky apple sauce. Not a healthy diet in the long run but necessary in the short(4-6weeks) to allow the colon to heal and recover. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Bad gas, stool aligned bright red blood, bowel spasms/pain, no appetite, and sticky residue on paper. Help?
Ostomy output is floating in toilet, frothy, foul fatty smell, glistening and shiny/oily in appearance. Possible causes?
Malabsorption: what you describe sounds like a failure to completely absorb in your small bowel. It can be from rapid transit, a lack of pancreatic enzymes or bile, small bowel pathology or from a bacterial overgrowth. This is more common with an ileostomy . It also may be related to your underlying reason for the ostomy such as Crohnes. See your GI doc or surgeon if it doesn't resolve soon. ...Read more
