Doctor said the laser used on me would be a dual laser which uses alexandrite and nd yag. Isn't alexandrite used for caucasian skin?
Tretinex=Acne Only: Tretinex is acutaine and used for acne. Tretinoin (Retin-A) is a cream used to treat sun dsmaged skin. Renova, in my opinion, has no use as it is tretinoin mixed with mineral oil to prevent its penetrating the skin, thus markedly reducing its effectiveness. At your age, tretinoin is what you need. See a plastic surgeon or dermatologist experienced in skin rejuvenation. ...Read more
Are acne scar removal products specfically creams like bio oil, selevax as effective as fractional co2 laser?
Hydroquinone: Hydroquinone is certainly more potent in real clinical settings. However, it is quite concentration dependent. I do not find the 2% concentrations to be very effective vs. the 4% concentrations (or higher if compounded) that you can get by prescription. Nonetheless, Arbutin could be quite effective as a stand alone treatment for milder cases of hyperpigmentation. ...Read more
Which is better for wrinkles on your face Retin A, (tretinoin) Glycolic Acid or a product containing Retinol. I'm confused. Tyvm?
Different chemicals: They are all beneficial but are different. They stimulate skin to rapidly exfoliate, make new smoother skin and stimulate collagen&elastin. Tretinoin and Retinol come from Vit.A . Retin A:brand of Tretinoin, best effect, mostirritation,Script only. Retinol :midpotency, midirritant, OTC Glycolic acid is from Sugar. Lesser exfoliation and improvement of collagen&elastin, OTC, better for dry skin ...Read more
I don't know;: not aware that either was particularly good at flattening hypertrophic scars (keloids). Most lasers work only on hyperpigmented (dark) lesions, most keloids are white. Individual physicians may be tempted to suggest whatever equipment they have. I would suggest that you pose the question on RealSelf, a site that operates somewhat like HealthTap but the docs are aesthetic/plastic surgery docs. ...Read more
Proton Therapy: Proton therapy is a type of external beam radiotherapy, and shares risks and side effects of other forms of radiation therapy. Proton therapy has been in use for over 40 years, and is a mature treatment technology. However, as with all medical knowledge, understanding of the interaction of radiation (proton, x-ray, etc.) with tumor and normal tissue is still imperfect. This therapy not for acne. ...Read more

Does MRI machines use special lenses like ones used in microscopes in combination with powerful magnets 2 get powerful resolutions for detailed image?
Is SkinLite cream effective? Also, is it safe to use? Active ingredients: Hydroquinone 2% + Tretinoin .025% + Mometasone Furoate 0.1%
It is safe but not: without risks. First remember that HQ2% is low concentration so may not be enough to lighten skin. Tretinoin is sun senstizing so use product at bedtime and sparingly so you don't get too dry or irritated. Mometasone is a steroid so again use sparingly and take breaks off the topical. If not getting results you want, see derm for prescription strength or other treatment options ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
What is better, amo signature phacoemulsification system or bausch and lomb zyoptix 217z100 laser treatment ?
Different treatments: Unrelated question, phacoemulsification is done for cataract surgery and the b&l laser is for refractive laser surgery. One removes your crystalline lens that has a cataract and the other reshapes the cornea. So there is no comparison here. Both machines have had good results if done correctly as with other similar but different brands but for very different problems. ...Read more
Different results: The best option depends on what you are trying to address. Peels improve the tone and texture of the skin and will improve fine lines and wrinkles. Fillers are used for deep lines and wrinkles and/or the augmentation of areas of the face which need more volume (nasolabial folds, lips, etc). Seek consultation with an experienced facial plastic surgeon for personalized recommendations. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
