Why would the creatinine clearance test not be useful for detecting early renal disease?

Why would the creatinine clearance test not be useful for detecting early renal disease?

Urine collection: Creatinine clearance requieres a full and precise 24 hour urine collection. The results can be falsely low if there is an undercollection, or falsely high if there is an overcollection. Also, creatinine can be affected by a high protein diet (the "ghoulash effect"). Such diets will raise serum creatinine. ...Read more

I have serum creatinine 31 *10* mol/l in my renal function test .So how can I improve it ?

Abnormal renal tests: You will need to see a nephrologist to have a renal ultrasound and a 24 hour urine collection for a creatinine clearance and protein. And more blood work. If there is some drug toxic to the kidney, ibuprofen, stopping it will help. If you have some obstruction of your urinary outflow tract, relieving it will help as well. Renal failure?: You do not have renal failure. What you have is chronic kidney disease. To find what what your actual GFR is, you need to have a 24 hour urine for creatinine clearance and protein, as well as another lab test to get the creatinine at the time of your urine collection. You will also need a renal ultrasound. See a nephrologist for the best treatment of your chronic kidney disease and proteinuria. ...Read more

Do high creatinine levels mean renal failure?

Do high creatinine levels mean renal failure?

High creatinine: Serum c is dependent on the person's weight, race and age. You need to have a 24 hour urine collection for a creatinine (c) clearance determination to know what your renal function is. When the urine is returned, blood is taken for a c level. That is the sure way to know how serious your creatinine level is and what your true renal function is. ...Read more

My father aged 70 long time renal cyst disease gradually creatinine clearance gone upto 6.5 help !

Dialysis?: If your father has a creatinine clearance (cc), he should be on dialysis with a cc of 7 ml/min. It seems that he has polycystic kidney disease (pkd) which has progressed, as it normally does, to end stage renal failure. Have him see a nephrologist to check his hemoglobin, phosphorus, calcium and intact parathyroid hormone levels. A cc result is based on one's creatinine and is different from it. ...Read more
