I have hepatitis C genotype 1 osteoporosis thyroid high iron fatty liver can I take reclast (zoledronic acid) infusion?

I have hepatitis C genotype 1 osteoporosis thyroid high iron fatty liver can I take reclast (zoledronic acid) infusion?

You can: To my knowledge, there is no reports of injury to liver with this medication. Chronic liver disease, especially cirrhosis can cause osteoporosis, so it should be treated. I would also recommend to see specialist to treat your hepatitis c , since there are new medications, hopefully get approved end of this year. These are highly effective (>90% cure rate). ...Read more

What are the contraindications of hep c treatment if I have RA and taking enbrel (etanercept)? Debating treatment for hep c

Hep C/RA: Treating chronic hepatitis c infection is a complex process. Specialists would need to know the genotype (to determine duration of treatment, 24 vs 48 weeks and the agents to use). Standard of treatment involved 2 drugs (pegasys (peginterferon alfa 2a) and ribavirin). However, with genotype 1, third agent will increase chance of success. Many side effects. New agents are coming out. You should discuss with your gi. ...Read more

Ana positive low c3c and 4 no symptoms of auto immune could my fatry liver ve auto immune hepatitis?

Need more info: Your history, symptoms, physical exam and laboratory data are all essential in arriving at a diagnosis, which cannot be done on the internet. Hepatitis is usually manifested in the laboratory by the presence of elevated enzymes which are released from liver tissue. It is possible this represents autoimmune hepatopathy, but need far more data. ...Read more

Has any one taken the disease modifying drug (dmards) for their psoriatic arthritis?

Has any one taken the disease modifying drug (dmards) for their psoriatic arthritis?

Most patients need a: Psoriatic arthritis can be a very inflammatory disease. We all want pain relief for our patients, but rheumatologists understand the need to reduce inflammation, because it portends coniued damge to joints, as well as much earlier cardiac disease. My personal favorites: sulfasalazine with methotrexate, the latter given sc. Some, albeit few, patients need tnf-alpha inhibitors. ...Read more

Mom diagnosis c hoshimotos/psoriatic arthritis/viral hepatitis/ acute myeloid leukemia. What is my risk of autoimmune disease/leukemia? My children's risk?

Mom diagnosis c hoshimotos/psoriatic arthritis/viral hepatitis/ acute myeloid leukemia. What is my risk of autoimmune disease/leukemia? My children's risk?

Altered Runx-1 gene: seems to be implicated in changing the susceptibilty to autoimmune disease and leukemia but is only 1 part of the puzzle and there appears to be other factors as well, so even if you get tested to see if you have the genetic alteration, that in itself does not mean you will get the diseases. I recommend a healthy life style with regular health exams. ...Read more

Found out remicade (infliximab) has mice proteins in it-maybe that's why reactions lately! Can any Dr.suggest ALL HUMAN alt. For psoriatic arthritis?

Reactions to remicad: Need to be evaluated: are they true allergic reactions or adverse drug reactions? and what type of reactions were they? Your doctor will have to decide on that. As for the proteins involved, human proteins can still cause reactions, if it is the case. Kindly confer with your doctor, this a complex decision, infliximab isn't a simple drug, and has to prescribed and monitored closely, good luck ...Read more

Can you answer, is hepatitis C antibodies the same as having hepatitis C infection?

Can you answer, is hepatitis C antibodies the same as having hepatitis C infection?

No: About 25% of people who have hcv antibodies, indicating that they were exposed to this virus, will have spontaneously cleared the infection through their immune response. The only way to know if you actually have active infection is to test for hcv RNA (viral load). If the RNA is detected the person has active infection and could have liver damage. ...Read more

What immunization should be given to hepatitis b and c negativr cld(chronic liver disease)?

Hep B vaccine: You should be vaccinated against hepatitis a & b. Unfortunately there is not yet a vaccine for c. The more common cause of cld is non-alcoholic steatorrheic (or fatty liver), but there are several other causes for which you should be evaluated, several of them uncommon, but need exclusion. See a GI doctor with interest in liver disease. ...Read more

My hep c count is in the millions. Can interferon help me?

Yes and no: Hepatitic C VL's are commonly in the multiple millions firstly.
