Remember Rhogam Shot Born Pregnant Worried Antibodies Harm Baby
I don't remember getting a rhogam shot after my son was born (he's a+, and i'm b-). I'm now pregnant again and worried that my antibodies may harm my unborn baby?
Ask OB or get record: The administration of Rhogam would be recorded within the ob's office record or the hospital record at the delivering hospital. Contact either & ask specifically for a review of that activity. Hospital records would have it on a medication administration form, a dr would have it listed during the visits involved. You can be tested for this kind of antibody formation. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
When your due date arrives, you will be more than ready to have your baby! Most women deliver the baby somewhere between 37 and 42 weeks. According to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, only 5% of babies arrive on the exact due date. Approximately 7% of babies are not delivered by 42 weeks, and when that happens, it is referred to ...Read more

After having a baby and i'm b neg blood type and i didn't get a rhogam shot can I still get pregnant or what will happen?
Depends: If the first baby was rh negative you did not need rhogram and there will be no problem with a future pregnancy. If the baby was positive you could form antibodies to a future baby which can destroy that babies red blood cells and harm or kill a future baby. Check with your OB and see . Most likely you did not get Rhogam because the first baby was rh negative. ...Read more
I don't think I got my rhogam shot after last delivery of 3rd child (did w previous 2 births). Now pregnant again. Will I miscarry baby?!
Unlikely: If you miscarry, it is likely not related to the Rh problem. Usually the first pregnancy after a missed Rhogam results in fairly mildly hemolytic disease, but subsequent pregnancies have increased likelihood of hydrops. Be sure your OB is aware of your situation, and your baby will be monitored carefully. Your baby may need phototherapy or exchange transfusion after birth. ...Read more
I'm 28ws pregnant with my third, previous two miscs. I'm receiving the rhogam shot next week. Will my baby be safe till then? What's the purpose ?
You are Rh negative: The Rhogam shot helps prevent the fetus, who may be rh positive, from triggering a reaction in your body if/when small amounts of fetal blood enter your system.Your body could develop antibodies that would break down the babies blood & place him/her in danger. The shot blocks that. In the 3+ decades it has been used it has been quite effective at keeping babies healthy. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Please inform OB: You need to be up front with your OB in this matter so appropriate surveillance testing can be done during pregnancy. There is a possibility you were not sensitized during the first pregnancy but i wouldn't count on it. If testing shows the baby starting to have problems they can proceed with treatment. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
