Prolapse/long cervix: If you haven't had any risk factors for prolapse--childbearing, obesity, lifting heavy things, straining--then another possibility is simply a very long cervix. Discuss with your provider at your visit. Either way, most people can achieve a healthy pregnancy. Good luck! ...Read more

Itchy vulva. Was diagnosed with hpv but cervix was ok last check up. Was diagnosed with herpes a few years ago, could that have something to do w it?

Yeast?: The main cause of vulvar itching is yeast infection. HPV doesn't cause itching. Mild herpes outbreaks may itch, with few other symptoms, but the itching would be localized to a particular spot, gone in a few days, and not recur until at least a few weeks later. Best to see a doctor for proper diagnosis. Or try an OTC yeast treatment, but for sure see your doctor if itching persists. ...Read more

Can semen roll down from the stomach and into the vulva, and travel through the vaginal canal and enter the cervix during a period and w/ tampon in?

Gravity: No. Semen does not roll upwards. It also does not easily enter the vaginal canal in this scenario as you have now been told more than one dozen times. But, the bigger picture is that it does not in any way matter. The female in this scenario cannot get pregnant on the first day of a period. There is no egg there. ...Read more

Hi, does hypothyroidism can produce a burning sensation on vagina there´s no infection on paps or cultures, how hypo can afect vagina vulva and cervix?

Interesting issue: I've been a position for over 20 years and have treated many thyroid patients. I've never heard of thyroid issues causing your symptoms. I would seek the opinion of another gynecologist. There are certain rare conditions such as Lichen Planus that can do this. Of course I am not saying that you have this but maybe another doctor could figure out what is wrong with you. Best of luck! ...Read more

Was diagnosed a few years ago with hpv. I am 30 now and I've been having this itch on and off near my vulvar area and scarred it might b vulva cancer?

No worry, not cancer: Vulvar cancer is rare, and the vast majority of women who have HPV never get it (or cervical cancer, for that matter). And althought it is possible that a vulvar cancer could itch, itching alone is not a symptom. If you don't have a visible growth or sore, you don't have cancer -- that's for sure. Yeast infections are the most common cause of genital itching in women. See your doc if it continues. ...Read more

I had a vulva biopsy on a mole, something went wrong, I have elevated skin that is painful- i was told it was not a keloid scar, but may need to see a plastic surgeon- what happened to result in this?

Healing: We all heal differently, and if you had a full-thickness biopsy that was left to heal itself, it has likely scarred in. A revision - removing the scar and closing the wound with dissolving stitches - may well take care of it. ...Read more
