Unlikely: You note ear wax and fluid build up. You note a doctor said no infection. You have pain and think it is infection. It is unlikely that you have an infection but I don't know your age, risks, symptoms beside pain. In the summer it could be that you have build up and pain from allergies. Red doesn't diagnose: Red is but one thing we look at when visualizing an ear drum. Red alone does not an ear infection make. An ear drum can be red if child has fever, is crying, holding breath, etc. We also look at landmarks, how the light reflexes, whether the ear drum moves, whether there is fluid behind the drum. Ear infection: Is it the ear canal or the middle ear that is involved? For outer ear/otitis externa/ swimmer's ear there are otc treatments available. Dizziness, however, suggests otitis media & possible labyrinthitis (infection/ inflammation in the balance mechanism). Be careful: If there is any chance of a perforation you want to be careful about using OTC ear drops as you don't want "just anything" going into the middle ear.
