I have got a very tight chest and pain on breathing, went to a&e last night who told me it wasn't heart problems any ideas what it may be?

Yes: Muscular strain and pain (the intercostal muscles of your chest wall) can cause your exact symptoms. I assume you have no fever which might reflect pleurisy or pneumonia. Doc gave me Medrol (methylprednisolone) pack for possible MS relapse. Have had the IV drip many times. It always gives me chest pain on breathing in. How can I combat this?

Advice: If you do indeed have a true ms relapse, a Medrol (methylprednisolone) dosepak lacks sufficient impact to really reverse it, but both oral and intravenous approaches will work. Just need much higher dosing level. Maybe you would tolerate Prednisone or acthar better. Discuss with your doctor. ...Read more

Now, breathing pain could be viral or perhaps inflammatory such as in pneumonitis. Ramdom attacks must mean they come and go and resolve without treatment. I would ask your doc to schedule full lung function testing with provocation. ...Read more

This sounds like: costochondritis or chest wall pain. You can try over the counter medications like ibuprofen, heating pad, and tylenol (acetaminophen). From what you have written It does not necessarily sound life threatening but if persists (or other symptoms - fast heart rate, shortness of breath especially with activity, lightheadedness or feeling like you might pass out) you need to see a doctor. ...Read more
