Remedies For Hyperosmia
Is there any known way to treat hyperosmia? I've had it for over a year now and I really can't cope anymore it's really effecting my life.
A few choices...: First, be sure that any anxiety or depression disorder is adequately treated (SSRI, SNRI, etc.). If you truly have a hypersomnia diagnosis, then your insurance company may pay for a stimulant medication like Provigil or Nuvigil. The cheap route would be to use plain old Ritalin (methylphenidate). Although it's not specifically indicated, we use it for hypersomnia, MS fatigue, and shift-work sleep disorder, too.
Depends on diagnosis: There is no standard pill treatment for hyperosmia itself though air filters can reduce the delivery of smells to the nose. However, the key issue is cause of hyperosmia. New and/or evolving hyperosmia suggest seeing ENT for evaluation.
Very little to treat: Actually, this is an uncommon problem. I mostly see it in patients withdrawing from certain drugs such as Ativan, Xanax, and Valium which gets better over about 1-2 weeks. I've used dopamine antagonists such as Reglan (metoclopramide) before or just treated withdrawal symptoms from the benzos but honestly, now my habit is to just recommend the patient be conservative and avoid places with strong odors.
Hyperosmia: Hyperosmia is a hightened sense of smell. Most people with encephalitis have a decrease in smell (hypo-osmia). You need to have the radiologist check the last imaging study to ensure there are no masses in the olfactory tracts. PDT of the time this information in on the readings. Check with you ENT and they can look at the CT or MRI as well. Good luck and feel better!
Tincture of time!: Millions have colds yearly. It is due to rhinoviruses and others. There is no cure. Rest, humidification, fluids, proper nutrution (chicken soup), fever control, vitamn c, perhaps an antihistamine to dry one up or perhaps a decongestant to open one up may be used. But usually observation, fluids and rest are all that is needed. Cover the coughs, nose and wash the hands. Stay at home!See 2 more doctor answers
COPD: Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a complicated yet treatable illness in both allopathy and homeopathy. However, hundreds of homeopathic medicines might be helpful to a person with copd. This means individualized treatment with an trained homeopath is needed, so that your unique totality of symptoms can be considered in the prescription. Follow-up would be long-term, not magic.See 1 more doctor answer
Leave it alone...: This is a poxvirus, 4 -subtypes (mcv1-4), and can be quite contagious. Lasting from 3wks to 2-3 months, but an outbreak can last to 18 months. They often resolve without treatment. Attempts at removal such as scraping/rubbing may actually spread the virus more. Topical such as wart cream or 10% benzoyl peroxide (acne cream) can help. Cryotherapy by your doc also can be tried...Good luck..
Treat infection.: Residual skin discoloration in the groin may persist for weeks to months after more severe forms of jock itch. This darkish discoloration is called hyperpigmentation. Treat with one or a combination of: hydroquinone 4% cream, acid cream, Azelaic Acid 15% cream. Over-the-counter fading cream with 2% hydroquinone (porcelana). Specially designed prescription creams. Most important, treat the infect.
Nymphomaniac: I would first look up up the meaning of the word and make sure you are meaning what you think you are thinking. You are seeking affection and caring. Sex is and extension of these feelings. Find people who like and love you because of who you are not not because of your looks or because of your body.
Rest and fluids: Get some rest, take fluids, take precautions to avoid spreading it to others; take tylenol (acetaminophen) if you have fever; you may take over the counter medications if these help with the symptoms but do not expect any of these or other treatments to shorten the duration of illness.See 1 more doctor answer
