Sounds like you have: Arthritis, or a meniscal tear. The fall might be responsible for the arthritis, but i think its the daily activities with subtle injuries in a susceptible person resulting in a meniscal tear. Its not a nerve issue. See an orthopod and I am sure he'll help you. In the meantime, use a cane for support, as I have seen too many people falling ; making it worse. Good luck. ...Read more

Not an easy solution: Burning is a common side effect of capsaicin lotion - if you are having constant pain try go clean some of the lotion off with warm water and soap. Capsaicin exerts its effects by decreasing the amount of substance P that transmits pain signals to your brain. Unfortunately, burning may be a reason to not use this medication. ...Read more

Shingles: I always worry about shingles/zoster when patients describe weird itch or burning sensation w/o any visible rash. Unfortunately, this rash that looks like chickenpox (b/c it's reactivated chickenpox) usually follows a nerve pathway leaving a stripe of affected skin a few days later.
