Menstrual symptom question. Is every woman "allowed" to miss a period occasionally, say once a year?
Generally yes: In the absence of hormone usage, menstruation usually indicates that ovulation has occurred and Progesterone has been produced. Without any menses, no progersterone would be produced and women would be in a relatively unhealthy estrogen-only state. Missing up to several periods a year would still allow for enough Progesterone in the other cycles to oppose the estrogen. ...Read more

After regularly having a period every month is it bad to miss it for the first time during the first month of taking birth control? Ign of pregnancy?
Normal, not bad: Birth control can definitely affect your cycle, especially in the first few months you take it. If you miss a day or more, that can definitely throw off the cycle as well. Regular daily use should, over time, help regulate your cycle. I don't think you're pregnant if you haven't missed a pill, but a pregnancy test could confirm if you are. Give your body 3 months to adjust to new birth control. ...Read more

Is it possible that I am pregnant? My menstrual cycle is irregular normally; I can miss my period up to 2 months late. My partner and I had intercourse several times before and after my period and he ejaculated in me every time. My last period was october
As: As doctors, anytime a fertile, sexually active woman has an abnormally light or missed period, the first thing we do is rule out pregnancy. You can either take another home pregnancy test as long as it has been 5- 6 weeks since your last normal period, or you can go see your doctor and they can test you. A home pregnancy test is 97% accurate if taken a week or more after the missed period, so another negative test would help confirm that you are not pregnant. A blood test can tell if you are pregnant as soon as 7 days after conception and a doctor's urine pregnancy test can tell if you are pregnant around when you next period should come. Since your period is usually irregular, this makes it difficult to time fertility windows and know what a missed period means. Since you had an infection the last time you had these symptoms, you should probably be checked by your doctor either way. Good luck! ...Read more
If I use sprintec continuously to skip periods how many periods should I plan on having for the year? Is 4 a year ok?
Should be fine: There isn't much evidence out there that states you absolutely have to have a certain amount of periods per year. So yes, four a year is ok. ...Read more

Why do i.Have iragular periods, n can I get pregnant lf my periods are on and off. I can miss my periods for months or even 1 year, please help me.
Seek consultation: The most common reason for irregular periods is ovulatory dysfunction, which may be due to a variety of conditions - pcos, hypothalamic amenorrhea, thyroid disorder, hyperprolacitnemia, perimenopause or poor ovarian reserve, hyperandrogenism, etc. An evaluation therefore is the most important first step as the management of irregular menses and conceiving depends on the etiology. ...Read more
