Multiple sclerosis : Very good question. The purpose of the peg should be to maintain nutritional support in the presence of inability to swallow. Some articles question it's benefit in reducing the risk of aspiration pneumonia regardless of the cause of dysphagia. In fact, the risk of aspiration pneumonia my be higher in some.
