Is reflexology a scam?

Is reflexology a scam?

It may as well be: A "scam" is a swindle: A dishonest way to make money by deceit. Reflexology isn't a scam because its practitioners generally aren't crooked, just stupid, ignorant, deluded & gullible; & so are their customers. Reflexology is pseudoscientific claptrap. I love foot massages, but I don't delude myself that I get anything more out of them than pleasurable sensations. ...Read more

Anything special about reflexology vs a massage?

Anything special about reflexology vs a massage?

No: Reflexology is completely bogus. It has no basis in fact whatsoever. Reflexologists have no training in anything medical or anatomical. A reflexologist is either woefully ignorant if he believes that what he does is real, or dishonest if he knows it isn't. Either way, it's claptrap. I love foot massages, but I don't delude myself that they give me anything more than a good feeling. ...Read more

Possibly, yes...: Anything from chiropractic, message, acupuncture, reflexology, herbs, aromatherapy, sugar pills.....Can help the some people, some of the time, more often if the recipient believes and trusts the therapist. But if it is a serious malady (cancer, heart, lung, kidney, inflamed or infected organs, anything that will not reverse by the body's own natural defenses), then it's time 2 c traditional doc. ...Read more

Does reflexology work for allergies?

Does reflexology work for allergies?

Not evidence based: Reflexology is time-honored but getting scientifically-controlled studies that show an effect above placebo has been problematic. The magic may come from the relationship with the practitioner, and i'd not criticize anyone who sought this out with a hope of relief. Use it as part of a comprehensive program of allergy management -- your health depends on this, as allergy isn't trivial. ...Read more

Can you tell me any information on reflexology helping coma patients?

Can you tell me any information on reflexology helping coma patients?

It depends on what: you mean by "helping". Most doctors do not know much about reflexology and I am one of those docs, so I cannot tell you. All I can tell you is that the prognosis of a coma depends on what put the patient into a coma in the first place. I would be tempted to say that it cannot hurt, but then again, I would not know. Check with a local reflexologist or somebody with experience in eastern med. ...Read more

Does foot reflexology work?

Does foot reflexology work?

Relieves some stress: Foot reflexology relaxes the patient, relieving some of his stress, because of the patient's getting a foot massage and getting to interact with a caring person. Stress-related symptoms can improve. The patient feels better because he believes he should feel better (otherwise he quits going to the reflexologist), but there isn't anything else about the "reflexology" that changes any disease state. ...Read more
