Sprain or celulitis: Ankle pain and swelling can be from a sprain or trauma that you don't remember or can be an early infection called cellulitis. Could be, but...: You should have this looked at asap. You need to make sure this is not a developing infection. If it is not an infection, it could be any number of inflammation problems - phlebitis being one of them. Heat should help.: The bruise color should be about green or yellow now. That is good. The pain should be going down. That is good. At this point I would apply heat. A wet towel warmed up in a microwave would do fine. If things don't improve after the heat then seek professional advice. ...Read more
