I will get occasional red, itchy ears in mid-afternoon. Always one ear, but never both at the same time. Overheating? Stress?
I am a 25 year old female that is yet to be allergic to something. Last two days I have had a red, sore throat and incredibly itchy ears.
Viral: The red sore throat is likely from a viral infection which however does not usually cause itchy ears. Perhaps you have a fungal infection in the external ear canals often from getting water into the ears. If so, you will need to consult your doctor to get you some antifungal ear drops (+/-) cortisone. I don't believe these two conditions are more coincidental than connected however. ...Read more

My inner ears and throat are itchy. Throat is really red and a bit swollen. Allergies? Acid reflux? What can I take?
Could be both: Itching of the ear, roof of the mouth, and throat are commonly associated with allergies. However, here in utah there are no pollens out this time of year, and spring pollens haven't arrived yet. So unless you are exposed to a new pet, it's less likely. If your throat is visibly red reflux is possible, but it would be reaching very high up. Viral illness may be more likely. ...Read more

I have chronic itchy ears. What can I do to stop them from itching so much instead of using q tips.
It would probably be best to find out why you have so much itching and address that problem. Most likely, you have an allergy that manifests as itching in your ears. If that's the cause, an antihistamine such as Benadryl (diphenhydramine) or Zyrtec (or others) should help.
If not, see an ENT doctor to make sure there's nothing there of greater concern.
And you are right. Don't use q-tips in your ears. ...Read more
