I have redness and small red spots on the head of my penis. What are they?

Possibilities: There is a possibility that it can be a sexualy transmitted disease but another possibility is pearly papules (photos can be seen using search engine - i.e. google images). These are benign not contagious and common so possibly nothing to worry about. If there is any question as to the cause see your MD.

Red Spots (Definition)

One possibility for red spots is a collection of vessels in the skin and they are called hemangiomas. These can easily be treated. I usually will use ...Read more

What causes red spots on the head of the penis?

What causes red spots on the head of the penis?

Benign papules: Pearly penile papules are like a minature "string of pearls" around head of penis. More common or prominent in uncircumcised men. They are perfectly normal. Sometimes called "tyson's" glands, but aren't glands. May contribute to smegma formation. Have it seen by a dr. If not as described above or if there is any concern.

Head Injury: This was a bump from a position of sitting and is unlikely to cause a bad injury. Observe his behavior and follow his usual routine. The red spots are likely the beginnings of a bruise. Risk factors would be a loss of consciousness and/or repeated vomiting. Have him seen for any concerns. All the best.

What could cause little red spots on penis head?

What could cause little red spots on penis head?

Have seen if lasting: These may be nothing more complicated than burst capillaries if you've used a hard grip, but if they last, the entity to rule out is a premalignancy usually related to hpv ("erythroplasia" and its family.) have your physician look if and only if they are stable for more than two weeks and are clearly not just blood vessels.

Balanitis: This could be an inflammatory condition called balanitis. You should see a urologist for examination and they may need to prescribe a topical steroid called betamethasone.

Nothing serious if..: How old are you? Do you have tight long foreskin? If yes, have you had inflammation/infection there? If young and not bothersome, leaving it alone is best thing to follow. However, it is impossible to know if what you described is significant or not without a direct look at them. To be sure, seek evaluation & counseling although they are most likely nothing serious and need no active care.

STD vs normal: Could be papilloma virus or herpes. No sexual activity as long as there is pain. Other infections can cause these symptoms. This could be trichomoniasis. Could be penile papules. Most importantly defer sexual activity as long as symptoms continue. Could be hair follicles if at base of penis. Could be yeast infection so have your blood sugar checked. Possibly STD. May need Rx. See urologist.

Sudden itchy rashes: On the torso usually have allergy or hypersensitivity causes. I would monitor and apply an antihistamine cream or ointment and monitor for duration, relief or change of symptoms.

It depends to your: History. It could be a lot of things and difficult to tell. Having said that since itch involved, I would think a some sort of yeast infection. Genital herpes can also itch and may resembles to your description. History, exam and std tests are essential to make a diagnosis. See a dermatologist or urologist or family doctor. Many possibilities: Proper evaluation of a blistery rash on a 1 month old will require an exam. There is a possibility that this could be an infection. Please set up a visit to evaluate the issue.
