Red spots: This could be anything. You should be seen by a dermatologist.
Possibilities: In this age group, most common possibilities include hives (could rapidly resolve, but if not consider virtual consult to discuss), chicken pox, pityriasis rosea, nonspecific viral illness. Several additional possibilities if not vaccinated. Good luck and follow your instincts: seek help if he is not getting better.See 1 more doctor answer

Skin Vasodilation: Sounds like dilation of the small blood vessels under your skin. This is commonly seen with heat, public speaking and other "stressful" events. Some people get improvement by using diphenhydramine (Benadryl) before situations where they are concerned it may occur. It's not to be used daily, but it's a safe option when you have times of especial concern. If other symptoms ask your doc.

No fun!: Skin problems can be a real challenge without actually seeing the rash. In general, rashes are diagnosed based on their size, shape, color and distribution. The age of the patient and their medical history are also very important. In your case, I would be curious to know if you have recently switched to a different laundry soap for your bedding. On the safe side, i'd get it looked at by your doc.See 2 more doctor answers

Needs a Dr. To check: Rashes and spots are difficult to describe in words. Generalized spots, reddish & quarter-sized, may be part of an infection (some viruses cause this) or an allergic reaction to foods, medicines, etc... "generalized" means the rash is all over the body. Sometimes, spots have unknown causes. A primary care doctor or dermatologist needs to evaluate the rash to find a diagnosis and treatment.
This will require: Evaluation to determine what the lesions are. What to do about them will be the next step.
Petechiae?: If the red spots look like tiny drops of blood int he skin, they are petechiae and should be evaluated by a physician. However, red spots can be other things. Cherry angiomata are tiny blood vessel tumors that are slightly raised and a little more purple than fresh blood in color. They are very common and associated with age.
