7 year old son has red spot on skin under eye, says feels like somthing in it, rubs a lot bit swollen?
Red skin: 7 years is a little old for a capillary hemanioma, do his eye seem to be red all the time, molluscum contagiousum is also possible. I would have to see a picture of this to make sure.
Hemorrhage: This is probably a seepage from a small vein in the conjunctiva which creates a very thin pool of blood in the normally closed space between the transparent conjunctiva and the underlying white sclera. It may increase in size due to spread (not due to further blood leakage) but will be absorbed in 3-10 days. If it persists after than see your ophthalmologist.
Experienced temporary partial blindness, for a minute, and when I looked in mirror there is a bright red spot on white area of eye. Its still there.
I have been feeling stress, yesterday my neck was tense I cracked it. Couple hours later I have red spot in the white area of eye. What is it?
Red spot on eye: Take a picture and send it if you can. Most red spots are not dangerous; can be due to: irritation, dryness, allergy; broken blood vessel; pinguecula; pterygium; foreign body; tumor. See your eyemd otherwise to be sure nothing of concern if persists or if have any pain or vision change.
Many things: Red spots can be caused by small hemorrhages that are common and benign. They can also be caused by small growths on the eye surface called pinguecula. They can be caused by vascular malformations and yes, they can be caused by episcleritis or scleritis which are intrinsic inflammations of the eye.
Have eye doctor look: At it. Depends where this dot is 'under your eye'. Is it on the eyball conjunctiva (white area?) Is it on the lid margin? Is it on the lower eyelid? It may be important to have it viewed under the slit lamp microscope to take a better look at it, and see what's going on.
The Inner part of her eye has a really red spot on the white if the eye. It is not painful and does not itch.?
Old or recent?: If this red spot just recently appeared it could be a ruptured tiny blood vessel in the white of the eye. These are usually not serious, cause no discomfort and resolve within a week. If the spot has been present for weeks, have an ophthalmologist examine it.See 1 more doctor answer
After images: After we close our eyes, especially in brightly lit environments, we will see images of what we were looking at for a short period of time. This is due to the fact that our retinal pigments have been stimulated by the lights and take some time to recover from those lights. You are noticing the residual images from this.
Woke up and out of no where there is a huge red spot in the white of my eye. No pain and can see normal. Is concern needed?
Probably not.: This sounds like a sub conjunctival hemorrhage, a broken blood vessel underneath the thin transparent membrane over the white of the eye. It will not cause any permanent problem and will go away by itself in 2-3 weeks. You should have it checked by your doctor though just to be sure this is what it is.See 2 more doctor answers
I am curious. .. I had a red spot in the white section of my eye... It was gone the day after... What is the cause of this? Thanks!
Broken blood vessel: Most likely you had a subconjunctival hemorrhage or broken blood vessel on the surface of the eye. These can happen if you lifted something heavy or if you were straining. Also, a hard sneeze or cough can cause that. It does not damage the eye or cause any problems with the vision. If it happens again you should see your ophthalmologist.See 2 more doctor answers
I have a large red spot in the white part of my eye. Does it need any special attention? It does not hurt and my vision seems the same.
Timing?: Depends on the cause of the red spot. If it is a bruise (subconjunctival hemorrhage), it may take about 2 weeks to go away. These are generally benign and self limited, and often a result of minor trauma, such as rubbing your eyes. If it is something else and has persisted for awhile, i'd recommend an exam to reassure that it doesn't require a different treatment.
