Red Sore On Upper Leg
I got a couple small cuts on the front of my thigh. Are bruising, a small amount of redness, and leg soreness normal?
Can be: This can be tricky because soreness and redness are characteristics of both recent trauma and infection. I would monitor the area to make sure that it isn't getting worse. Increasing erythema (redness), pain, edema (swelling) and or induration (hardening) of the skin are signs of infection that should be evaluated. I hope this helps. ...Read more

Time for an eval: Any time you have an injury that is not getting better as you would expect, or is getting worse with increasing pain or redness, foul discharge, etc. You should see a physician for an evaluation. You don't want a minor and easily treatable infection to turn into something much more serious or potentially life threatening. Go get it looked at to make sure it is nothing serious. Good luck. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Diffuse: Such diffuse symptoms are difficult to tie together. One has to focus on the area with the most pronounced discomfort which may be your knee with other symptoms being referred from or secondary to the knee disorder. Start with a consultation with an orthopedic specialist who will investigate your knee for any internal derangement. Try taking magnesium and calcium to relieve recurrent muscle cramps ...Read more
Depends on cause: Any time you have a chronic pain, long term relief mandates you find a cause. You can take pain meds, but if there is a knife sticking out of your leg, it's not going to feel better for good until you get the knife out and let the wound heal. You need to start by trying to find the cause of your pain. Talk to your doc about your specific symptoms - when, where, how intense, what makes better/worse. ...Read more

Abscess: likely. Need to examine in order to determine that, but that is most likely. See a doctor in the next couple of days (preferably within 24 hours). This is not a complaint that requires going to an E.R. Urgent care would be preferred if you couldn't get into your regular primary care physician. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
