See a doctor : May be an infection, such as a tonsillar abscess, although I would think you may have fevers and feel sick if that were the case. See you doctor soon for an exam. No treatment?: Swollen tonsils are not treated unless they are extremely enlarged and cause then swallowing problems! In those cases a small trial of corticosteroids is warranted like Medrol Pak ! Many times viral infections ca trigger swollen tonsils .!Sometimes Strep Throat1 ...Read more

Should i go to the doctor today or wait a little longer? I have had a sore throat which is pretty red for 5 days and a cough for 4 days. I had my tonsils out when i was little. I have no other symptoms. I don't have insurance so it's hard going to the doc

Viral : Viral upper respiratory tract infections usually last 7-10 days or should at least be improving by then. You may be a bit early yet. The chance of having strep throat after a tonsillectomy is quite low. It sounds like you are doing everything possible for symptom management. If you go 10 days without improvement, you should see a doc. ...Read more

Symptomatic care: Most sore throat are viral in origin. If the strep throat is negative too, you would need lots of symptomatic care. Take lots of fluids to drink and tylenol (acetaminophen) for pain. But again you will have to give it some time to get better. One final thing - if your throat is coated with whitish exudate and you throat still hurts by 7-10 days and you are feeling tired, it might prudent to check for mono. ...Read more

Spots on tonsils: Spots on tonsils are called an "exudate." exudates are common in many throat infections and have no specific importance in diagnosis. Persistent fever, trouble swallowing and/or pain determine need to be examined. The more intense or longer these persist, the more one needs to see the doctor. ...Read more

Can an STD in your throat cause one side to be sore, one tonsil mildly swollen, with redness on the crown of your throat, and itchy?

Sore throat: It could be especially if there is alot of pus but it is much more likely to be from another bacteria. If it is on one side it could be an abscess and that needs drainage since antibiotics are less likely to work. All and all a trip to the MD is in order. ...Read more
