Tinea capitis: If your brother is being treated properly with oral & local antifungal medications, he should not be contagious after 48 hrs of starting the treatment, don't share towels & sheets, his should be washed in hot water, dried in dryer, & if possible ironed. Yeast perhaps?: The diaper area, being generally warm and sometimes moist, is an area that can develop yeast infections of the skin, even in boys. Ringworm, caused by a different fungus, could also affect this area. Unfortunately, these aren't the only 2 things that could cause what you describe. Over the counter: It may be ring worm. Try using over the counter medication for ring worm. If that does not treat the lesion in 7-10 days, you may wish to see a doctor.
For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, low fat milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form.
Practice safe sex.

Dry skin?: It is not easy to guess what the problem is without examination the lesions and getting a more detailed history. Having said that, I would guess that dry skin is the likely cause (Oct is usually dry). Try applying a moisturizer on the area immediately after bathing and see if this helps. ...Read more

Check with your OB: I would let your OB make the call as to what he/she would like to see you treat with since any medication to treat fungal infections will be excreted in breast-milk and this could be rough on the infant's liver if ingested.
