Needs evaluation: It could be infected, irritated or changing. Either way you need to be seen and evaluated and likely have it removed and sent to pathology. They can then tell what is going on. Don't delay. ...Read more

Recently had a mole on the back of my neck removed. After 2 weeks it has grown back black as well as with a red ring around it. could this be dangerous?

Need more info: All depends on how the mole was removed and was it sent for microscopic examination? Did the doctor do a punch biopsy or cut it out with a scalpel and then suture it closed? The red ring could be indication of beginning infection. Please get back to the doctor who took the mole off and ask him/her the answers to the questions I just posed. ...Read more

I have a small blackish mole with a red/brown ring around it. I am very worried and I am hoping its not cancer. If it is cancer is it in early stages?

Pigmented lesion: Melanoma can occur at a young age, so having an odd looking, multicolored, or irregularly pigmented lesion seen and removed is worthwhile. Only good pathologic exam of the removed specimen can determine reliably how deep (advanced) it is if it is malignant. Don't delay having it seen by someone who can help. ...Read more

You : You have mentioned two of the warning signs of melanoma (change in size and two different colors). While i don't really have enough medical information to give you a diagnosis, considering that melanoma is one of the most deadly cancers, and the incidence has skyrocketed, the best and safest thing to do is see a dermatologist and have it biopsied as soon as possible. ...Read more

Ask your dermatologi: st for sure. If your dermatologist has been keeping a mole map on you, then if something is irregular about it, they are the first and best one's to definitely discuss it with. Need to see why you see a red ring? Is there any pimple, folliculitis around it? Is it blood vessels, or just a reddish color? The physical exam/inspection is key to determining if it's normal changes, or not. Call your Dr. ...Read more
