Peanut Butter (Definition)

Guidelines from reputable health agencies suggest some steps parents can take to reduce their child's chances of having food and other allergies, although there are no guarantees of success. If either or both parents have a personal or family history of allergy, for example, asthma, eczema, hay fever, perennial allergic rhinitis (allergy to animals, dust mites, or molds) the following is recommended: * Avoid common allergenic foods, in particular peanuts and tree nuts, during pregnancy and while nursing -- peanut protein, as well as components of cow's milk, eggs, and wheat, are ...Read more

Child has faint red rash on cheeks and chest, does not itch, only other symptom is congestion which he has has for a month (allergies) should I worry?

Should be seen.: It is difficult to diagnose a rash without seeing it. There are many viruses which cause rashes, but strep can cause a rash as you have described also. I would recommend you call your child's doctor and have he or she take a look, so that your child can be diagnosed properly and receive any necessary treatment. ...Read more

Can people with bee allergies eat honey? What about peanut allergies and peanut oil?

Can people with bee allergies eat honey? What about peanut allergies and peanut oil?

Yes: There is no bee venom in honey, so it can be safely eaten by people allergic to bees. There is not supposed to be any peanut protein in peanut oil, but there may be if it wasn't carefully manufactured. If you have had a life-threatening reaction to peanut, I wouldn't recommend betting your life on whether the peanut oil is pure. ...Read more

8 mth old baby woke up with rash on cheeks. Small, red, slightly bumpy spots covered her arms and thighs later in the day. No known allergies. Help!

Many causes: But at this age, this is how eczema (atopic dermatitis) often presents itself. Cow's milk and egg are the most likely allergens. However a viral infection or drug reaction may also present in this manner. If there is pus, then impetigo should be ruled out. If the problem persists, see your doctor. ...Read more

Hi I have a rash or an allergy on my cheeks only. It is red and itchy at times with small white pimples that appear to be on very surface of my skin?

Keratosis pilaris: White bumps on the cheeks sounds like keratosis pilaris. http://www. Medicinenet. Com/script/main/mobileart. Asp? Articlekey=91543&page=0. Here's an article describing what that is and you can see if the description works for your rash. See a doctor to be sure. Other causes are possible. This usually is not serious, but on the face, it can be more bother than on the arms or legs. ...Read more

Shrimp allergy? Ate some & within minutes my lips were bright red my face red and a rash on cheeks also lips numb. Will it get worse, I rarely eat it?

It's possible: It is possible that you could have developed a shrimp allergy later in life, although this is not common. The lip swelling/numbness and face flushing/rash seems to be a give-away, especially immediately after eating it. Of course, you could be responding to any other ingredient in the dish, as well. Take antihistamine now, as it could get worse. (your reaction in the future could worsen as well!). ...Read more

Dr, I have severe itching in leg with red rashes for last two days & reduces on Avil tab. 'm on warf 6mg & HCQ 400. Is it medicine's allergy?

Probably not: But you need to talk to your doctor about this issue. Warfarin rash tends to induce huge bruises and likely more generalized than confined to the legs. However it is possible that this may be from HCQ especially if it had been introduced within the past month or so. If problem persists, you may need to see a dermatologist. If it is helped by Advil, (ibuprofen) I would look for the presence of vasculitis. ...Read more

Hi. I've been getting really painful, red, bumpy (sometimes pus-filled), sometimes itchy rashes in places and during times when I sweat more. Allergy?

I got allergy due to hot summers due to which my skin itches a lot and got small red rashes. What should I do to cure it?

Multiple: How long does the rash last after you got out of the sun? Do you have the same issues after exercise? The problem can be due to what is called cholinergic urticaria which usually occurs during the cooling off period after an increase in core body temperature (hot shower, sun, exercise, stress etc). If this is what you are experiencing, then taking an antihistamine prior to the exposure may work. ...Read more

Itch: Since there's no obvious rash, swelling or redness associated with the itch, some superficial nerves may be irritable causing itch which is a relative of pain. What triggers the itch is mysterious. I would avoid applying cortisone type ointment to sooth the itch as permanent skin changes can result. Ask your pharmacist to recommend a nonsteroid ointment that you can use on your face if needed. ...Read more

Could an allergy to peanuts cause a rash that looks like mosquitoe bites?
