Dry spreading rash: There are a number of different things this could be. One of them, common in young people is pityriasis rosea, which has oval pink/tan/salmon colored patches with scaling on the rim of the patch. On the back it has a christmas tree distribution with descending rows of these patches. Some thoughts...: You do a great job of describing the rash, but unfortunately there are still very many possibilities. It could be a medication reaction, a viral exanthem, tinea, eczema (even if it doesn't itch), a vasculitis... It's a long list.
