Can red pepper take a few days to fully get out of your colon? I saw 1-3 small red spots in my stool for 2 days now had red peppers in a dinner Friday
The average time it takes for food to transit through our GI tract is about 50 hours, but can vary from a few hours to a few days. Red pepper may not fully be digested (esp. If it is dried flakes) and thus might show up in the stool.
If this was bleeding, bright red blood usually comes from the rectal area and would not look like flakes.
Blood from further up the GI tract is usually very dark. ...Read more

Nah: Significant blood loss (more than 3-4 ounces of blood), especially from upper sources, e.g. Stomach, duodenum, small bowel, less likely from right colon, can give black, tarry stol, with a typically characteristic odor, often loose (blood is a laxative):melena (black). Entire stool would be black, not just individual spots. Likely from food, seeds. Iron pills, pepto bismol (bismuth subsalicylate) can do also. ...Read more

Have had bad constipation for 2 weeks. Doctor said take miralax (polyethylene glycol). Stools are loose and thinner then normal and I noticed some black specks like pepper?
Miralax (polyethylene glycol) is working: I would not be sure what to make of black specks like pepper, but I can speak a bit to how MiraLAX (polyethylene glycol) works. Miralax (polyethylene glycol) (one of my favorite laxatives) or polyethelyne glycol is an osmotic laxative. Laxatives in this famaly work by pulling water into the colon, soaking and softening the stool which allows for easier passage. It is safe to use daily. This is likely why the stool is loose and thinner. ...Read more
Are spices like green jalepeño, red bell pepper, and black ground pepper okay to eat when you have fatty liver. I put a little of each in each meal.
I got sprayed with maximum strength pepper spray on my leg, . It burned badly. I wiped it with soap but it's red. Is this ok? Could this be toxic?
Ouch must have hurt!: As long as there is no blistering or breaks in the skin you should be ok. The redness is like a sunburn and if its painful taking Ibuprofen and using aloe or other skin products that contain vitamin e can help. If there is blistering then without knowing how much area is involved I would advise seeing a doctor. Other than the local injury there should be no toxicity from this exposure. ...Read more

Antibiotics: If you truly have a sinus infection, then you will need an antibiotic. Maybe strep, flu, etc.: Nose and throat symptoms can be from cold viruses, strep throat, sinus infections, allergies, etc... Sometimes, it can be difficult to tell what the cause is, without an exam and follow-up. If symptoms only last 1-2 days, it is more likely allergies or irritation. Doctors have rapid 5-minute tests for strep, so a primary care doctor can diagnose strep and start antibiotics. ...Read more
