My hard palate is a little yellow and I've had cold symptoms for about a week. (not tasting, stuffed up, etc.) some small red patches on roof of mouth?
Mouth eruption: Your symptoms seem viral in nature, and the patches may be a specific type. Upper respiratory illnesses such as sinus infection can present similarly with nasal stuffiness and diminished taste. Bacterial infection such as strep throat is not usually a palatal disease. However, mononucleosis is always a concern for a range of symptoms and can be tested for. An exam is in order if you don't improve. ...Read more

How long can you have an tooth abcess for without not much swelling, I have had mine for 3yrs causin redness on front [email protected] side palate?
Tip of the iceberg!: While you have been lucky (actually unlucky!) for not having much swelling, what is probably going on inside your jaw is a serious infection destroying bone and possibly effecting other teeth either now or in time. I have personally seen patients with large untreated infections and infected cysts become permanently numb and lose teeth from letting these types of infections go untreated. ...Read more
My dentist told me that stopping smoking has caused soreness & redness in the palate of my mouth. Has been there for 1 month plus now is this common?
Hmmmmmm.: I'm not sure if I personally would agree with that observation. Smoking can and will cause changes to the soft tissues of your mouth, including the palate. I would think that over time, the tissues will revert back to their natural healthy state, unless there has been some irreversible damage. You might want to check with an oral surgeon regarding the health of the tissues of your palate. ...Read more

May be viral: If there is a single sore and you have no other symptoms (no headache, no stomach ache, no fever), the sore throat may well be a virus. Treatment for that is supportive. If you develop any of the above symptoms in addition, however, and do not have symptoms such as stuffy nose or cough, see your doctor to make sure you do not have strep. ...Read more

Soft Palate: Nothing beats seeing a physician who can personally examine you. That is what I would recommend.
