Hard to be exact: Red palms could be a sign of polycythemia, that is elevated hematocrit hemoglobin red cells and could be a reactive process, ie oxygenation issue etc or primary. Erythroderma from drugs or primary, are also causes but often redness is seen elsewhere or all over skin. Your year old post delivery with residual redness of fingers suggest the first possibility. Best you talk with: Your own doctor. There are a number of things that cause palmar erythema or red palms, one of the most common is alcoholism. In your case there are many possibilities and best to be sorted out in person by a doc familiar with your history, and you probably need some tests to examine you current thyroid levels not just TSH, amongst other things. No: Red palms IS palmar erythema. Red hands is not. What you describe may be true palmar erythema, or it may not. It is never due to diversion of blood flow away from the hands. Besides advanced liver disease, it can be due to local factors on the hands, thyroid disease, eczema, psoriasis, blood disorder [increase in red cells], pregnancy or increased estrogen, etc. Avoid alcohol. ...Read more
