I have painless red bumps in my throat, and a whiteish tongue. What should I do?

Difficult to: Render a diagnosis without a clinical examination. But if there is no discomfort present, the red bumps on your tongue are your taste buds (papillae) - some more prominent than others. The white tongue could be a coating of plaque. Make daily tongue brushing a part of your daily hygiene regimen. In any event make sure you see your dentist frequently for checkups. I have a pea-sized painless red bump in my throat on the right side. Tonsillectomy at age 10, 18 now. Could my tonsil be growing back?

Not growing back: Tonsil tissue is composed of lymph tissue, similar to a lymph node. The back of the throat, the tongue, and the tonsils all contain lymph tissue. When a tonsillectomy is performed the tonsils are separated from muscle. The bump you are identifying is likely a little bit of leftover tonsil tissue. This won't cause you any trouble. ...Read more

Straight line red bumps on middle back wall of throat going down pharynx. They turn white when I strain throat and back to red when I leave it. Causes?

The Thin Red Line: Hey! You could take that on the road! All you'll need is a gigantic magnifying glass... What you're doing when you strain like that is to impede the blood flow to your head. Hard to say, you did not describe any symptoms. ...Read more
