Enlarging cyst: A moveable lump in left armpit not nodal in origin. Most likely skin appendage. Common source is an enlarging sebaceous cyst filled with necrotic sebaceous material. At times a sweat gland tumor can look this way. Have lesion checked to see if it is cystic and if so the lesion with capsule must be removed by excision. If not cyst then evaluation as to need for bx must be made. ...Read more

From one day to another small lump under armpit where hair does not grow painful and somewhat red? What can it be!?

Still fofollicular: Even tho there's no axillary hair, there's still hair growing there & all over our bodies. A small follicle can also b infected so i would consult a dermatologist or general surgeon & have it evaluated. ...Read more

I recently found a lump in my armpit. It's pretty painful. I now have three lumps in my armpit that are painful and slightly red. Cancer symptom?

Not really: Cancer in the armpit essentially represents metastasis to the lymph nodes high up near the axillary vein. They are for the most part painless and would not be associated with redness. Rather one would expect inflammation of the sweat glands right under the skin for which warm soaks and possibly antibiotics would be effective. ...Read more

Axillary adenopathy: A single isolated enlarged lymph node would be the most likely finding, but to be certain it may have to be biopsied. Cat scratch disease is a common cause of this, as are other infectious disorders. If you have been seen by 3 docs without a diagnosis, suggest you see an infectious diseases expert. Hope this is diagnosed and treated soon. Best wishes. ...Read more

I found a painful red lump with black head in my armpit. Squezzed it and it discharged hard white stuff. What should I do?

I found a painful red lump with black head in my armpit. Squezzed it and it discharged hard white stuff. What should I do?

Sounds like a cyst: This sounds like a sebaceous or epidermal inclusion cyst. They are common. The biggest problem with them is they can become infected. It is likely to recurr after squeezing and usually needs excision to get rid of it. Consult your doctor, dermatologist or plastic surgeon to be sure. ...Read more

I have been very fatigued not feeling well i. Found a lump in armpit, not red or painful. Should i be worrie?

Fatigue: I would first ask how long you have been feeling fatigued. Also have you had any weight loss or loss of appetite. Depending upon where in the armpit your referring to the tail of the breast resides there. I would urge you to seek medical attention. Your physician will want to know how long you have had this long also answers to the questions i asked above. I urge you to seek care. ...Read more

About 3days ago I felt a lump in my armpit, it started getting bigger swelling and red. It gets agitated by my bra and it is painful. What could it be?

Infection?: There are several possibilities. It could be a small infection around a hair follicle, or a lymph node which is swollen because of an injury to your hand or finger. You should see a doctor, have a good breast exam also, as it could be related to a breast problem. Try to find a bra that doesn't rub it, and get seen soon. To make it less uncomfortable, try some hot compresses, and don"t squeezei. ...Read more

Clogged sweat gland or lymphoma? Small painful lump in armpit, close to skin, slightly red. Remarkably smaller after a few days. No other symptoms.

Clogged sweat gland or lymphoma? Small painful lump in armpit, close to skin, slightly red. Remarkably smaller after a few days. No other symptoms.

Lymphoma unlikely: Lymphomas are usually painless. Painful lump means some infection and you should talk to primary care doctor (pcp) and examined in pcp office. If needed, dermatology referral. Watch for fever, weight loss, night sweats which are usually associated with lymphoma. Fever can be associated with infections also and painful swellings. ...Read more

Lump: It sounds like it might be infected, whatever it is. You should go see your primary care provider, and if you don't have one, go to an urgent care or go back to the emergency department. ...Read more
