? folliculitis: It sounds like folliculitis, a bacterial infection of the scalp similar to acne. If you look close you may see a pustule when they first break out. They are often itchy/tender and scratched at producing a small scab. They tend to come and go. There is no permanent cure, but I often treat flares with antibiotics. If the spot on her head is a darker patch, she could have mastocytosis which triggers a histamine release when the spot is brushed against leading to redness, swelling. Infected cyst?: Infected cyst or hair follicle iikely. If large see a doc. If very small try a spot of bacitracin after cleaning it with mild soap and water. Hot compresses for 30 minutes can help. See your doctor: Sounds like more than psoriasis. See your primary care doctor so she/he can run some tests on you to rule out infection and other causes of lymph node swelling. Psoriasis does not usually cause lymph nodes to swell unless the plaques get secondarily infected. ...Read more

Post auricular LN: It is persists beyond the first few weeks of the year then have your family doctor or your local ent doctor check you. You may have lymph nodes elsewhere that you can not feel. Usually the doctor will give you an antibiotic to see if it does not resolve. If no change, then it will need to come out or get biopsied with a needle.
