My face is red and burning up. Could allergies be the cause of these symptoms?

My face is red and burning up. Could allergies be the cause of these symptoms?

Possibly: Skin irritation on the face only, especially in women is most often a contact irritant reaction. This could represent a true allergy to chemicals found in facial cleansers, make-up products, lotions or sunscreens. Step one is to stop all topicals and try a cleanser such as cetaphil restoraderm or aquaphor unscented baby wash. If irritation persists, see your doctor. A physicial exam is needed. ...Read more

Allergies (Definition)

Allergies occur when your immune system is triggered by envirionmental factors it should ignore--for example, pollen in the air, or dander on a cat or dog--and creates cells to fight against them. An allergic reaction typically causes itching, congestion, or drainage, and ...Read more

Child has faint red rash on cheeks and chest, does not itch, only other symptom is congestion which he has has for a month (allergies) should I worry?

Should be seen.: It is difficult to diagnose a rash without seeing it. There are many viruses which cause rashes, but strep can cause a rash as you have described also. I would recommend you call your child's doctor and have he or she take a look, so that your child can be diagnosed properly and receive any necessary treatment. ...Read more

15 minutes after eating pasta John's face started to turn red. Could that be a food allergy symptom?

Mgt/workup: Yes it could be, and an allergic rash eg hives is a common finding, along with GI symptoms such as nausea and vomiting.

My 9 yr old son has been told he has dryeye and allergies! Symptoms r a cough red eyes rolling eyes and head & sniffing? What do u thnk please give info

See a pediatrician: A child who rolls his eyes, his head, and sniffs off and on may have tics, which are exaggerated habits. Of course he may have allergies and dry eyes, too. The allergies and eye symptoms may "encourage" the tics to continue because the symptoms make him sense that there is some discomfort in the eyes. Some doctors check for strep throat when a child has new tics with cold/allergy/throat symptoms. ...Read more

Red itchy rash on both hands, nose and upper back warm to touch no other symptoms is it minor allergy? Bp104/70 pr 92/min., temp. 36.1 degree celcius

Could be: It could be one of several possibilities. Usually with a rash, you would need to have it seen by the doctor to get a diagnosis and the correct treatment. You can give it a couple of days to see if it resolves. If an allergy, Benadryl (diphenhydramine) would make it improve or go away. ...Read more

33 weeks pregnant, top of belly broke out in a very itchy red welt rash, allergy, or normal pregnancy symptom? I do not think it is PUPPP rash

Hard to say: Being pregnant does not protect you from getting a skin rash and in fact makes you more likely to get strange skin rash. It is however not normal. If it is a raised welt which goes away after a few hours, then consider taking an antihistamine. There is no way to tell at this time whether this is from an allergic reaction or not unless you have noted such an association (food, pet etc) ...Read more

Can allergies in a four year old cause fever? Complains of sore throat, but throat not red or splotchy. Lots of clear discharge from nose. Dry unproductive cough. Fever of 99 to 101. Listless, wants to sleep a lot. Symptoms since yesterday morning

In: In a situation like this the child should be evaluated by his/her pediatrician. Strep throat needs to be ruled out. To answer your question, allergies do not cause fever. More common causes of fever in children with the above symptoms are URI (upper respiratory infections, otitis media aka ear infections, and like I said strep throat.
If her symptoms have resolved or are resolving she does not need to follow up.
Best of luck. ...Read more

If food allergy prick test is negative (mild redness) and blood rast test negative is it mean you are not allergic to foods? So y get reaction to foods

Not 100%: If both tests are negative, the chance of being allergic to that food is very very small. However when the history of a food allergy is strong, and the tests were negative, I often ask the patient to bring in the fresh food for the testing instead of relying on commercial food extracts. If the person is still quite concerned over it a challenge test can be done at the office. ...Read more

Skin care: What you are going through could just be dry skin in winter, bathe with cream soap, pat your skin dry (keep it moist a bit) then moisturize immediately with any moisturizer cream, that would do the trick if it is dry skin in winter, otherwise it might be another form of skin condition as eczema or even another form of urticaria, for that you need to see a dermatologist or an allergist, good luck ...Read more

Rash and exercise: Some people may develop allergic reactions to unusual things like for example exercise, others may develop a reaction to cold, heat, stress, pressure. I am allergic to all metals but titanium. It causes a skin reaction of redness and swelling. I was debating getting a tattoo. Can I with this allergy?

Would not advise it: It may be wise you're not to do the tattoo. If you wish to pursue your choice you need to see a dermatologist who can skin test you to see exactly what metals you may be allergic to. A lot of people are allergic to nickel, but a dermatologist can clarify this. ...Read more

From past 15 days I am suffering from lip allergy. There is slight discoloration around my lips and swelling and redness in my lower lip. Pain and itch?

May be lip eczema: Persistent irritated lips can be lip eczema, which may be treated like skin eczema, using hydrocortisone cream (twice a day for 1 week) plus Vaseline or Aquaphor to retain moisture. Sometimes lip balm or lip sunscreen chemicals cause an allergic reaction. Other times, a person is a primary lip-licker (it's her habit). Once cracked, lips get irritated by routine foods and juices. Eye itching: It is very unlilely that your ocular symptoms are related to a milk allergy, if they are the only symptom you are having, they are more likely to be secondary to an environmental allergy. Fat content of milk that does not have any influence if someone is allergic to milk or not. ...Read more

Deliveryman brought plastic for mattress he's cut on his hand n blood was on it. Touched blood on it. I got cut n bad allergy on hand redness. Hiv risk?

Stop worrying: The deliveryman bled all over your mattress plastic, and you touched the dried blood where you have a cut and a rash on your hand? This is still an unrealistic fear. Dried blood is a solid and isn't going to percolate into tissues; even your rash and your cut are sealed by your fibrin.
