Probably stye: This sounds like it is in the substance of the eyelid. If so it is a stye, a blocked gland which is now becoming infected. If it is on the eye itself or the vision is affected you should see an ophthalmologist tomorrow. If it is a stye, you can treat it for a while with frequent very warm packs (four times a day or more) which will usually take care of it. ...Read more

I have erythromycin ointment for eyelid lump and redness.  Should this go in the eye?  She said just to cover eyelid to base of lashes.  Is this right

Chalazion: Best easy approach is to apply dry hot compress to the eye lid for 5-10 min then apply the ointment inside the lower eye lid. The body temperature will melt it and it will go where it needs to go. Do this 4 times a day. If it is not resolved within 5-7 days it may need to be treated with minor surgery. The compresses may work equally effective without the ointment. ...Read more

Is it the eye, or: the eyelid? If it's the eyelid, it sounds like it could be a stye or chalazion. These are blocked glands in the eyelid. The treatment is ibuprofen or acetaminophen and warm compresses. If it is the eye, not the lid, please see her pediatrician or eye doctor.
