Stye or a Chalazion : More often than not the red spot is a stye or a chalazion! they can burst and have yellow stringy stuff come out and it may be infected. My suggestion is start warm compresses to the lids 10 minutes at a time, twice daily and see your ophthalmologist soon. ...Read more

Many times the mucous membranes can make a clicking noise when the wet surfaces of the membrane and the eye are in contact and are rubbed apart.
