Red Like Dots Around 4 Year Old Eyes
My 4 year old has one red dot in her eye x 2 days. What could it be? Do I need to take her to a doctor?
I suppose you mean: On the white of the eye. This usually represents a broken capillary on the globe surface that broke & leaked blood after a cough or sneeze. It may take a week or more to fade given the minimal number of capillaries in the area to carry away the stain. If you're concerned this may not be it an exam would tell. During regular office hours. ...Read more
My 4 year old has very bright redness under his eyes and on his cheeks. He had his TdaP and MMRV vaccines 7 days ago. Are these related?
Probably not: If he was has having a reaction to the Tdap the time frame is off. It usually occurs 4hrs - 48 hrs post dose. For the MMRV vaccine that is a live virus vaccine. So if you're getting a reaction it would be because you're having a viremia 7-9 days post dose. There might be associated symptoms such as little vesicles around injection site, runny nose, fever, etc. If worried see his doc. ...Read more
My 2 year old eyes are red, I don't think it's a pink eye because it doesn't have crust on it just red and itchy...she has allergies?
Itchy Allergic: The itchiness you describe and bilateral (two sided) nature, as well as the time of year certainly would be associated with allergic cause. She is old enough for claritin (loratadine) 5 mg reditab as a trial medicine. If she's not better within the week, I'd have her looked at by her pediatrician or we are happy to consult here on prime! ...Read more

My 4 year old son has been on tobacco for a week and eye is still red and squinty. Should I take him back to the doctor?
Unusual: Tobacco packs can help some localized swelling but never heard for use on eyes. Pink eye can be caused by many things but I always think viruses if they last for a long time. I would definitely get back into your MDs office for a recheck. There are a few rare infections of the eye that can lead to serious problems. ...Read more
Small scratch under eye of 4 year old boy 2 months ago still lettel red and depressed, does this will leave scar and if not how long to fade complete?
Scarring possible: A small scratch is more likely to leave what we call " post inflammatory hyper pigmentation" meaning a little dark spot where the scratch was. Depending on skin tone to start with, this may take 6 months to a year to resolve. Sun will tend to darken the pigmentation so be sure and help him with a little suncreen to protect the area. The xinc oxide sticks work well for smaller kids. ...Read more

Why does my 4 yr old daughter have red on her white part of the eye? Is this serious? Should I take her to the ER?? I need help
Depends: A tiny broken capillary from minor trauma (rubbing) could leave a red stain that lasts days. The whiteness stays so because there are few blood vessels that would carry the stain away quickly. If the kid has no pain, acts & plays normally, you can watch it. If the kid has been around flying debris (a grinder), has pain, is restless, etc. It would be a good idea to have it looked at. ...Read more
