I've had for several weeks an increasingly itchy rash on the back of my scalp. Anything to relieve this?

Yes: There may be many causes and unfortunately we often cannot find the answer even after exhaustive studies. If it lasts over 6 weeks, see an allergist. If it is short term, try some otc antihistamine up to 4 x the regular frequency but watch out for drowsiness. Otherwise topical Hydrocortisone cream should be tried. If it still did not work, see an allergist. ...Read more

Eczema?: This is a common location for atopic dermatitis, or eczema. Taking a lukewarm bath followed by application of an emollient cream/lotion can help. Topical OTC hydrocortisone helps too. Also, examine if you have made any recent changes in skin care products, laundry detergents, etc which might be causing the reaction. ...Read more

Are there any effective over-the-counter meds. For severe scalp breakouts? (bumps, pimples and itchy rash). I need help asap, this is out of control.

Yes and no.: For and itch rash of the scalp (the technical name is seborrheic dermatitis), numerous medicated shampoos and lotions are available otc; most contain zinc or tar derivatives. Add bumps and pimples, however, and you probably have a problem in the hair follicles, possibly an infection, and if it's really that "out of control" you should be evaluated by a dermatologist. ...Read more

What causes an itchy rash with little bumps on top of my feet and redness on lower legs? Also bumps are not itching anymore, now they are dry bumps.

What causes an itchy rash with little bumps on top of my feet and redness on lower legs? Also bumps are not itching anymore, now they are dry bumps.

Allergic reaction: Usually rashes on the top of your feet are casued by some type of allergic reaction or contact dermatits. With your lower legs involved i would rule out edema/swelling as an issue as well. Your socks or shoes could be creating the rash on your feet more so if they got wet while wearing them or if you have changed soaps or detergents. If the rash persists or returns get examined by a doctor. ...Read more

Broke out with itchy rash all over body including palms of hands and now I have swollen lymph nodes in back of head and itchy scalp. What's wrong?

Allergic reaction- s: I would recommend immediate medical evaluation including blood testing and possible a steroid injection to abort this allergic attack.
