Not 100%: If both tests are negative, the chance of being allergic to that food is very very small. However when the history of a food allergy is strong, and the tests were negative, i often ask the patient to bring in the fresh food for the testing instead of relying on commercial food extracts. I have seen this: While the +ANA is suggestive of SLE there can be other causes - other connective tissue disease, autoimmune thyroid disease, auto immune hepatitis to name some. I have seen a lot of people with + ANAs who only have as another problem a history of allergic reactions and I am convinced that thee allergic reactions can cause a + ANA.
